The Three Degrees - Everybody Gets to Go to the Moon
Used in “The French Connection.”
Badass horn arrangement. I think Don Ellis’ band played on this, but I’m not totally certain. The 7/8 hook (organized a bit like (3+3+1)/8 or maybe just (3+2+2)/8 but either way it’s great) is basically the best thing ever though. There are other odd rhythmic bits in this, most notably (3+3+2)/8, used in the second half of the piece. Also: RIGHT ON SHELIA
